1/6/23 - LGS Playtest —Jan. 7, 2023

Played numerous games at LGS and wanted to document the results subsequent changes/feedback of the deck for editing purposes:

  1. Initial games I was hurting for mana that limited what I could play, specifically mana was an issue. One game was just poor pulls the other I was forced to mill ~30 cards during the game which was poor luck as all the mills included nearly all the ways I could have played mana or tutored for a Forest and that bad luck was paired with my draws were cards that required mana, again greatly limiting what I could play for roughly 10 turns. This led me to bumping up the land total to 38 lands and changed things up to include less lands that provide / to be either / or /. This increased the number of ways to get mana while only slightly decreasing the ways to pull / mana. After I made those changes, I have consistently had a way to play mana right off the bat which subsequently led me to immediately being able to play ramp or creatures routinely. Usually leading to getting out Gishath, Sun's Avatar pretty early.

  2. My commander is significantly more expensive than most others I have played against and requires hard ramp or patience to play. With the changes made to the lands, I have been able to play ramp cards and consistently cast commander usually by turn 6-7, who immediately made an impact by attacking and getting more dinosaurs on the field. Circle of Life...

  3. As the deck currently sits, it only has two answers for artifact/enchantment hate. Perhaps need to look in Masked Vandal or Boseiju, Who Endures. I played against a commander prison deck recently with many very powerful enchantments/artifacts to lock out opponents. Zacama removed a single artifact but it was mostly luck that allowed me to survive. This paired with the general observation that most all games I have played, opponents have played very powerful enchantments/artifacts that may or may not be crucial to a wincon. It would be wise to add a few more ways to deal with those that have other utility options.

  4. Flying can be an issue as I lack the ability to deal with this ability consistently and has cost me numerous games where an I am slowly whittled down and then a single flyer can finish me off. Need to find a solution to help the deck punish Flying or add more Reach or grant my creatures Flying...A Flying Gishath, Sun's Avatar sounds amazing!!!

Jhi69 - Thanks for the upvote. If you have any suggestions I would be all ears. I am about 8 cards shy of the 100 and I feel like it is the instants/sorceries that I am pretty weak on. Things like Heroic Intervention would be nice and I am sure I will add things like that over time but just looking for suggestions.
