Collected Company Returns —Oct. 14, 2015

Collected Company is back and is replacing Kiora, Master of the Depths. Kiora is a great card, but I'm finding Company to be more powerful in this deck. Everyone knows the interaction of Company with Shaman of the Pack. If you find two Shamans off one Company this will most likely just end the game.

Another ridiculous interaction with Company is with allies and Tajuru Warcaller. Company can't find and put a Warcaller onto the battlefield, but it has great synergy with a Warcaller already on the battlefield when cast. With a Warcaller on the battlefield any ally you get with Company gives your creatures +2/+2. Getting two allies off of one Company can pump your creatures a lot. Hitting one or two Beastcaller Savant with a Company with Warcaller on the battlefield is another powerful play because Savant has haste. Savant is pumped up by Warcaller as well as all your other creatures when it enters the battlefield and then that same turn you can attack with him for a lot of damage.

One drawback of using Collected Company in this deck is Company doesn't work with Skyrider Elf. You have to pay mana to converge Skyrider. Any mana you pay to cast a Company can't be used with a Skyrider. Finding a Skyrider off of a Company can be awkward. Skyrider will enter the battlefield from a Company so it would count toward Shaman of the Pack if Shaman is the other creature you are getting with Company. Skyrider also can trigger a Tajuru Warcaller that is already on the battlefield. After Skyrider enters the battlefield from a Company it would die because it would be 0/0.

It's sad that Skyrider doesn't work 100% with Company, but there are only 4x Skyrider in the deck and a lot of other targets that Company can hit. Including but not limited to Drana, Liberator of Malakir.
