New Way Forward

Instant

The next time a source of your choice would deal damage to you this turn, prevent that damage. When damage is prevented this way, this deals that much damage to that source's controller and you draw that many cards.

DemonDragonJ on Which Card Should Replace Keranos?

I have a copy of Keranos, God of Storms in my Numot, the Devastator EDH deck, and, while he is a great creature, I feel that he is not the best match for that deck, so I am contemplating replacing him with another card, and I wish to ask the other users here, for advice, on that subject.

My first choice for a replacement card is New Way Forward, which is a one-shot effect, but it is a very powerful one-shot effect, and this deck does have a slight emphasis on non-creature spells, albeit not to the same extent as my Elsha of the Infinitefoil EDH deck, and my second choice is Taigam, Master Opportunist, who would reduce the mana curve of the deck, but also cause the deck to be more heavily blue, and I wish to keep all three colors close to being balanced, if I can reasonably do so, and that deck also does not have any other cards with suspend, so Taigam would be an odd card for that deck.

What does everyone else say, about this subject? Which card should replace Keranos, if any, or should I keep Keranos in this deck? I certainly am very interested to hear your thoughts, on this matter.

spacecoyote1313 on New Way Forward and Lethal?

Okay I had a pretty intense match 3/game 3.

Scenario: Opponent is at 6 life, I am at 5 life. I have a 4/3 and a 3/2 on board, opponent has nothing. I play a hasty 6/5 and attach for lethal. My opponent plays New Way Forward on the 6/5 attacker, now the damage is prevented and redirected at me upon combat. However, I still have a 4/3 and 3/2 hitting for lethal.

Question: Who wins? Damage happens all at once, would I deal 7 and the 6 would be redirected at me before, same time, or after? I was thinking it was a draw but everyone else softly agreed I won because lethal 7 would happen then the redirected 6. But unsure!
