@ GrimlockVIII thank you for the Upvote and suggestions for my deck!

The deck tries to make a win attempt around turns 5 to 7 and Avenger of Zendikar is a bit slow for that without dedicated landfall. Don't get me wrong I like Avenger of Zendikar and it is an all star in my Kruphix Lands Matter *Primer* list.

Further more Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Zealous Conscripts is the easiest way this deck has to win. Gruul is good at tutoring for creatures but not instants and sorceries. The other combo lines rely on using at least one instant or sorcery and thus must be found using card draw. Consequently I have found it is almost always wrong to cast Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker or Zealous Conscripts for value. If one of them is in hand the goal is card draw to find a tutor to fetch the other.

Curious Herd looks like it would be a lot of fun in a more chill wort list. My strategy during the early game is ramp and token creation (to use to conspire spells latter). Once I cast Wort the strategy becomes card draw by conspiring draw spells. This means I try and keep most of the token creation at 2 CMC. The exceptions are of course:

Hordeling Outburst (3 CMC) It creates red tokens. This can matter as most of the ritual effects and card draw are red and need red creatures to conspire. If we get another Dragon Fodder / Krenko's Command functional reprint Hordeling Outburst will be replaced.

Goblin War Party (4 CMC) It also creates red tokens and can be used as a haste enabler for the Reiterate infinite combo.

Depending on how fast you want this deck to be, would Avenger of Zendikar be of any help? He produces a bunch of tokens and is a good clone target for Kikki Jikki and Zealous Conscripts.

Curious Herd might be cool given the popularity of Artifact decks.

Thank you!

I'm pretty sure that Curious Herd is what I could cut for the Connoisseur. You're right, it's pretty situational. That, and being a 4-drop kinda makes the Connoisseur a better choice.

To be frank, I haven't even actually built this deck yet. It's still in the developmental stage. So some of the cards, like Curse of Clinging Webs for example, will be proven upon playtesting. I'll keep your other suggestions in mind, but at least on paper they don't seem better than your suggested cuts.

Sorry for the very lengthy reply. I just got swept up in this.

I've only played two games so my experience overall isn't going to tell me enough about how certain cards perform in various situations or if they're not synergizing enough with your strategy. I'm guessing you're on a budget. If your playgroup allows proxies, or money isn't an issue. Gaea's Cradle is always a great option in a deck that generates lots of token creatures, and you're already running Crop Rotation . The budget option to cradle though is Growing Rites of Itlimoc  Flip. When I began my 2nd game playing this deck I was very concerned since one opponent was running Angus Mackenzie which usually just neuters this kind of strategy. I mean I lost that game for other reasons, but if it had dragged on I probably would need a lot of luck to have instant speed removal for Angus and enough power to alpha strike or I'd just lose to forever fog. That's certainly an edge case, but a tad more removal could be helpful to rid yourself of problematic creatures or other effects. Song of the Dryads and Kenrith's Transformation are a couple of great options. The only other creature that doesn't do something like fight that shot to the front of my mind to get around Angus was Questing Beast .

=============

However, simply looking at the list and thinking about good options in general I would say the following cards should be considered for replacement:

  • Colossal Majesty its a bit slow compared to other green card draw. Sylvan Library is probably the best replacement if money is no issue. Beast Whisperer is decent and you can tutor it. There are great one-time effects considering the swarm you usually have like Shamanic Revelation and Regal Force . Harmonize is always a solid option. Oakhame Adversary is usually getting through because of deathtouch and you can always leave him as a blocker. Depending on your meta Runic Armasaur can net you plenty of cards.
  • Liege of the Tangle feels like you'd be better off with something that helps finish the game the turn it enters the battlefield for this much mana. Craterhoof Behemoth or something like that would be nice, but if you're content with the pump that you get from Kamahl then perhaps Bane of Progress would be nice to wipe the pesky artifacts and enchantments. God-Eternal Rhonas is another decent buff to finish with. Great Oak Guardian could potentially be a finisher with your ability to turn lands into creatures and Temur Sabertooth as a way to recast the treefolk again and again.
  • Nylea, Keen-Eyed I feel like she is a decent card, especially since she is indestructible, but her activated ability is pretty costly for only digging 1 card. I would prefer Duskwatch Recruiter  Flip for this kind of effect and if it flips it does the cost reduction. If you're after an indestructible creature here then Rhonas the Indomitable is great for the deathtouch as a blocker or threat, and his pump + trample effect. For other nice cost reducers there's Emerald Medallion and Rhonas's Monument .
  • Curious Herd was a dead card for me in one of my games where I drew it. I ended up discarding it when I ended a turn at 8 cards in hand. I can see that it has potential in some matchups, but its is a bit meta dependent. Arachnogenesis would probably be an upgrade in many cases, but again meta dependant.
  • Magus of the Order I was surprised when I saw this in my hand because I didn't realize it had been printed. 2020 was a blur. However, as it stands there were not a lot of great targets for this to go tutor into play. Avenger, Nyxbloom, of Baloths were the primary options to me since Leige needs to swing and connect in order to do something and wait a turn before the lands can attack giving opponents a chance to wipe your board (including 8/8 lands). Actual Natural Order would be preferable since it is less telegraphed, but still need better finisher, utility, value to tutor for. Craterhoof, Bane of Progress, or maybe something like Apex Devastator for all the silly cascades.
  • Roiling Regrowth -> Harrow (generally won't get countered so the additional cost on cast of sacrificing a land is a minimal risk) or if you want a body Springbloom Druid .
  • Bow of Nylea it certainly has its utility, but something like Ohran Frostfang may be better for the deathtouch buff and supplemental card draw.

Other cards to consider:

Some combo suggestions:

  • Quirion Ranger + Ashaya, Soul of the Wild to use the ranger's ability to return the ranger and untap any other creature that can tap for mana to recast the range and repeat for infinite cast triggers, creature ETB triggers for other permanents that care, and "landfall" triggers. Scryb Ranger can also work if your "lands" produce an additional green or if you have a way to give them haste like Lightning Greaves or Concordant Crossroads .
  • Cloudstone Curio + Kodama of the East Tree to put a land into play, bounce another land, resolve Kodama trigger to put that land back into play and bounce the first land for as many additional lands you can play per turn. This becomes infinite if you have a permanent that generates any kind of token on landfall trigger.

Slivortal on Freyalise High Tide

Hi ShinyZ and DivineKhaos, sorry for the delayed response; things have been pretty hectic IRL, and I haven't had a chance to play much given that most game stores remain closed. Here are my thoughts on the more recent cards to come out. They're mostly theoretical, though I hope to test them soon.

IKORIA

Vivien, Monsters' Advocate - A powerful card with a powerful effect. The main problem with Vivien though is how she fits into your curve. She's very good on the specific turn between when you cast Freyalise and when you combo off, but she's not very good on other turns. Since this deck's goal is to cast Freyalise on-curve, she's not the first thing we'll cast on 5 mana. And on our combo turn she's not very effective, given that she's 5 mana for her tutor effect. She can still be worth it if you can cast her and a 6+ drop given that she can tutor for a Hermit and make her mana cost back, but that requires specific cards and a lot of mana. One of her upsides though is that she can provide a reach token to fend off fliers, and she obviously has a lot of value in grind games. I can see a place for her, but her clunkiness is noteworthy. The bar for noncreature spells that cost more than 2-3 mana is very high, though.

Kogla, the Titan Ape - This card is relatively good, and outshines all previous Somberwald Stag effects given the size of its body for its mana cost. The ability to toolbox into it makes Kogla actually very tempting. The other two effects are unfortunately somewhat niche; our only humans are Eternal Witness and Dosan the Falling Leaf. Looping Eternal Witness is good, but I think there's a nonzero chance Dosan gets cut (see below). As for the artifact/enchantment removal effect, it's also good, but like Vivien shines much more in grind games. It can also be tutored by Fierce Empath/Woodland Bellower via Fierce Empath, which is a relatively big deal, and it has a great base power for Greater Good

Manascape Refractor - Too slow and clunky, unfortunately. As I mentioned with Vivien, it's only good on the turn between when you play Freya and when you combo. However, unlike Vivien, it's not nearly as good in grind games. It's also very fragile, since this deck tends to dodge and blank artifact removal in a good amount of games, while this plays right into it.

Curious Herd - Again, this is a noncreature spell that costs more than a couple mana, which is almost an immediate death sentence. While it can create a decent amount of tokens, it's also conditional, and I'm not sure if the condition is better than that of Beacon of Creation, Spontaneous Generation, or Saproling Symbiosis, all of which have been tested at various points in this deck's history.

CORE 2021 There isn't much here, but Sporeweb Weaver is worth mentioning as a potential anti-flyer check, if you know you're going into a meta with a lot of flyers.

JUMPSTART

There's a lot to go over here, even though the spoilers aren't even over yet.

Llanowar Visionary is actually playable, surprisingly. This deck primarily values ramp creatures that are 1 mana, but it also values ramp creatures at 3 mana, for the 1-3-5 T3 Freya curve. Of 3-mana ramp creatures, Visionary is pretty strong given that it gives you back your card, and still cycles at minimum during your combo turn.

Allosaurus Shepherd - On to the big one. This card is absolutely absurd. For 1 mana, you get a creature in an extremely relevant creature type that can't be countered, and prevents all our other power spells from being countered as well. Additionally, the 6-mana effect is relevant with Greater Good, since it gives all your elves an effective +3 to +4 power. Immediate comparisons will be drawn with Dosan, and I don't think there is room for both given tight deck space. Shepherd has several benefits over Dosan; it's in a better creature type, it has far more relevant text in games where you don't need the interruption protection, it costs far less mana, and its inability to be countered is key in games where the opponent has multiple counterspells. It's also not legendary, which means that it's a valid part of the Woodland Bellower toolbox. It's also easier to play on turns you don't go off, given that it doesn't shut down other players' abilities to interact with other players' combos. The downsides are worth mentioning though, in that Shepherd only stops counterspells. That means it's weaker against opposing counters + removal, since the Shepherd can be removed and counterspells can be turned online. It also still allows opponents to interact with removal at key chokepoints in certain combo lines, even with a lack of counterspells. However, I think the benefits of Shepherd far outweigh the negatives, and I fully expect to replace Dosan upon release.

Takeaways - Takeaways - Vivien, maybe. Kogla, strong maybe. Refractor, no. Herd, no. Visionary, maybe. Shepherd, yes. No other cards worth discussing. Potential cuts:

Ramunap for Kogla - Depends on which toolbox you value more; creature removal or land recursion.

Song for Vivien - The problem with this cut is that Song is much easier to cast and is one of our few answers. Vivien's strong, but it's really hard to find a noncreature to replace. You can replace Carpet if you're going into games where you know that you're not playing against blue, but I think the potential cuts are low.

Ramunap for Visionary. I think if you don't cut Ramunap for Kogla, cutting Ramunap for Visionary is very tempting. While Ramunap is an additional recursion piece for Cradle and Nykthos, Visionary is simply far more proactive, and the more I play this deck, the more I value proactive cards.

Dosan for Shepherd. Unfortunately, I think Dosan's time is up. He's a pet card of mine, and he's served his purpose well over the years. However, Shepherd is extremely powerful, and I don't think there's room in this deck for two cards with this same effect.
