Morphing and Flipping and bouncing (summoning sickness)

Asked by Bovine073 7 years ago

I know when a card flips (such as Hinterland Logger  Flip) you can tap/attack with it on the same turn (normal summoning sickness rules apply). But is it the same for morphing cards such as Rattleclaw Mystic?

On another tangent, does Cloudshift make summoning sickness come "back" again?

Oh, well. How does summoning sickness actually work, then?

Every permanent is subject to summoning sickness, but it only affects creatures.

Summoning sickness affects a creature only if that creature has not been Continuously under your control since the beginning of your most recent turn.

Unmorphing/Unmanifesting cards follows the same logic as transforming cards such as Hinterland Logger  Flip. They never left the battlefield nor left your control, so they will be able to tap and attack assuming they didn't still have summoning sickness.

When you Cloudshift a creature, it is exiled, then returns to play with summoning sickness. This ties back into the part of summoning sickness where you have to have continuously controlled it since the beginning of your most recent turn.

Hope this helped.

Thanks Raging_Squiggle! One more question, can your most recent turn mean your current turn? For example, during your opponent's turn, they play an Act of Treason on my creature, I get it back at end of turn, can I attack/tap it on my turn?

Yes, you will be able to attack with or tap a creature that was borrowed through Act of Treason. Because it is returned at their end step, you control it continuously since the beginning of your most recent turn
