does creatures gain summoning sickness when flickered by Conjurer's Closet

Asked by metalmustaine 8 years ago

I was thinking of using it on Royal Assassin

Yes, it is treated as a new object entering the battlefield and it appropriately has summoning sickness. So, unfortunately, the line of play with Royal Assassin and Closet does not work.

Does the same thing goes with Nephalia Smuggler?

The effect for smuggler is (nearly) exactly the same as for Closet. Whenever a card leaves the battlefield and returns, it is treated as a new object and has summoning sickness.

Boza It doesn't actually matter whether it is considered a new object. "A new object" has nothing to do with whether a thing has summoning sickness.

The check on whether a thing has summoning sickness or not is "Have you controlled it continuously since the beginning of your turn?"

When you use Control Magic to take control of a creature which has been on the battlefield for ten turns, it is NOT a new object but it -still- is effected by summoning sickness since you did not control it continuously since the start of your turn.

That's why all of the red Act of Treason style effects give the thing haste.
