Does Angel's Grace beat Laboratory Maniac?

Asked by Baltec 8 years ago

I just finished playing an Ad Nauseam mirror match on XMage. My opponent has a Phyrexian Unlife on the board and casts Ad Nauseam and draws his entire library. He then plays a Laboratory Maniac and then casts a Serum Visions for the win. In response to the Serum Visions I cast Angel's Grace. They both resolve and then I win the game.

I was just wondering if this interaction is correct, or if XMage just glitched a little. Any help would be appreciated.

You would stall your opponents victory for one turn, then you must defeat him within the next turn by destroying Phyrexian Unlife or kill his Laboratory Maniac, otherwise when they go to their next turn and still control their creature and enchantment they will win.

Laboratory Maniac has a replacement draw effect, that instead of drawing from an empty library, he would win the game. Angel's Grace says your opponent can't win the game this turn. The action of "winning the game" from Lab Maniac will do nothing, but since the draw was replaced, the opponent doesn't lose either.

So it seems to be a bug or incorrect interaction in the program.
