crawling sensation what exactly "one or more means"

Asked by fastbond_stripmine_crucible 7 years ago

I get in normal sense if you mill 5 lands from Tome Scour you would get one bug but with a card such as Countryside Crusher it is the same ability but the land is put into the graveyard before the rest of the ability finished so If I had 5 lands put into the graveyard with him do I get 5 bugs or 1?

Crawling Sensation

You get 1 bug. Cards mean exactly what they say. There's no hidden meanings. If 1 or more (so if 2, or 3, or 10, etc) lands are put into your graveyard during the resolution of a single spell or ability, you get only 1 bug.

A resolving Tome Scour can only give you a maximum of 1 bug, but you can get multiple bugs from a single Countryside Crusher trigger.

A triggered ability will trigger whenever the specified event occurs. Tome Scour puts all the cards into the graveyard as a single event. Though it's common for players to physically move the cards separately from one another (because it's easier to count them that way), they're all changing zones simultaneously. However, iterating the instruction given in Countryside Crusher's ability moves the cards to the graveyard at different times and as separate events. Just because no one is allowed to make responses or take other actions during the resolution of Crusher's ability doesn't mean everything it does is happening simultaneously.

This is the rule from the CR defining what an "event" is:

700.1. Anything that happens in a game is an event. Multiple events may take place during the resolution of a spell or ability. The text of triggered abilities and replacement effects defines the event theyre looking for. One "happening" may be treated as a single event by one ability and as multiple events by another.

Read Crawling Sensation a bit more closely. You can only ever get 1 Insect token a turn from it.

Whenever one or more land cards are put into your graveyard from anywhere for the first time each turn...

well I was in the same boat as Rhadamanthus so changing cards from Crawling Sensation to The Gitrog Monster it would each trigger right?

All 3 of the comments before me were assuming it was possible to have multiple Crawling Sensation triggers per turn. My original comment was not directed at any one person.

Yes, The Gitrog Monster would trigger for each card moved with Countryside Crusher.
