Clarification on Copyable Values

Asked by QuamQuam 5 years ago

I got a question concerning copying permanents or creatures until the end of turn only with either Mirage Mirror , Renegade Doppelganger or Dimir Doppelganger

Lets say I let either of them become a copy of a Lazav, Dimir Mastermind who is copying Creature A.

Lazav dies due to legendrule. and Creature B Enters an opponents graveyard, which i let my copy get to copy aswell.

My understanding is that in the end everything goes back to the original creature/ Mirage mirror.

Am i correct here?

thanks =)

It remains a Legendary copy of Creature B named Lazav, Dimir Mastermind with hexproof and the special Lazav copy ability.

When the copy effect generated by the ability of Mirage Mirror or Renegade Doppelganger wears off at the end of the turn, it doesn't also make the copy effect from the Lazav ability end. That copy effect will stay until it's overwritten by something else.

Also note that Dimir Doppelganger 's copy effect doesn't have a limited duration. It will also last until it's overwritten by something else.

As Pieguy396 mentioned, in the future please remember to hit the "Mark as Answer" button on a correct response once all your questions have been resolved. This helps keep the Rules Q&A section clutter-free by moving your question to the Answered Questions section. Further, the card pages on this site link to any Rules Questions involving them, so there's a possibility someone might stumble on this question at some point in the future; having an "accepted answer" allows the future user the ability to quickly resolve their own questions.

I have gone ahead and marked an answer on your behalf this time, as this has been up for quite some time now.
