Would you trade Your Six $10 (total $60) His/Her One $55 and One $5orHis/Her Two $30 Cards

Given all else is equal in terms of power level of the cards and that all these cards are what I like to have.

the first option is, you are getting a more expensive card, but then as well as a lower cost card than your $10 cardsthe second option is you are getting 2 expensive cards more than you individual $10 cards.

What would you choose?

I frequently sell my trades on TCGPlayer, so I would go with the two thirties to cut the losses from fees and whatnot.

IF you're trying to trade up into something cool though ,go for the 55 because it'll be easier to put toward a bigger trade later.

Kinda a confusing question, what are the cards in the trade? Personally I'm a value trader and mainly a collector so what I do is look at the cards and see which trade has the best chance to hold or increase in value and go for that one. If both cards are in the same boat as far as speculation I'd go for the $55 card over the two $30 cards but then again many people say you're better off "investing" in many small good cards rather than one big card.

This is just a question checking your opinion on trade theory; what you tend to do in trades and why.

I actually really like this question, trade theory is something that's very seldom discussed.

Well the card in question is somewhat important. If the 50 dollar card is standard or new, I am not going to trade for it as its value does not hold. If it is older, I am more likely to trade for it

I have to agree with julianjmoss here. If the card were something like Nissa, Worldwaker at the release of M15, then no, I wouldn't make the trade. If it were Liliana of the Veil then more than likely yes, I would make it.

Great insight. These cards are modern cards. No standard. Standard is too volatile. I'm just asking to see what people think. I'm more leaning towards the $55/$5 than $30/$30.

well in magic I think it's more case specific to the cards than general theory.

Are we talking 2x Crucible of Worlds or are we talking 2x Snapcaster Mage

Assuming the two 30 dollar cards and the one 55 dollar card increase in value at an equal rate then the two 30 dollar cards would be the better choice financially as they will net you twice as much profit. Diversifying also protects you from reprints. If you're one 55 dollar card is reprinted and loses half of its value then you lose 26.50 where as if one of your 30 dollar cards faces the same dilemma you'll only lose 15 dollars in value. The exception here would be the no reprint cards as they will only ever increase in value with no chance of a reprint ruining your day.
