Im thinking of building an ape commander deck. Anyone have any suggestions of which commander to use. Thanks!!!

EDHREC is a solid resource, but it appears your charting new territory with Ape tribal, However while most apes are green, there are some red ones so ....
for R/G id consider Borborygmos or Mina and Denn, Wildborn
but in mono green you get Yeva, Nature's Herald or Dosan the Falling Leaf
but it really depends on how you want the deck to run and what kind of effects you want access to in the command zone to support the deck .

thank you very much and I just picked up a xenagos, god of revels so i am going to be using that as my commander.

Mono-Green. Use Uktabi Kong as the general, then run 40 forests and 59 Uktabi Orangutans. Then name the deck "Sex Monkeys" or something similar. Done.
Seriously though, R/G is your best bet. Make sure to use changelings, as there aren't enough apes to go around. As for the general, Xenagos, God of Revels or Ruric Thar, the Unbowed are your best bets.
This should get you started.
