Play testing changes —Sept. 11, 2014

After some play testing noticed that Jace, the Living Guildpact wasn't pulling his weight and that Thassa, God of the Sea had one too many copies. Deciding to try out 3 Illusory Angel to see if they will make the cut. Thanks for the comments and advice so far guys! I'm clearing the comments here so that people have less they need to read.

Khans should bring something wicked to this being as Jeskai (U/S/A) is a supported colour with it's own ability(prowess) anyway

3 suggestions...

1.) Not sure if you've seen but khans spoiled a great new card that's perfect for your deck "ghostfire blade".

2.) Juggernaut doesn't seem good in this deck. Your deck is really built to hit either extreme of the threat curve...i.e. T1 ornithopter tT2 ensoul, OR ramp ramp bla bla bla scuttling doom engine...either really fast or really big and scary. Juggernaught just seems a lil in between and do nothing for what the rest of your deck wants to accomplish.

3.) Springleaf drum over chief engineer any day of the week. It gives your lonely ornitopters a sense of purpose if they haven't been ensouled (just like engineer) and helps ramp you into early bomb artifacts. But it also ramps you into keranos and thassa (and in general gives you access to blue and red mana) . It also gives you another T1 play for a T2 ensoul to target. It gives you another artifact to sac to shrapnel blast and in general synergizes better with the rest of your deck. Also look at your creature base: Keranos and thassa wont ever be active realistically (so cant tap). Generator servant already taps to give you 2 mana. And Doom Engine and Soul are the 2 bombs you're ramping into in the first place. So the only real creatures to convoke with are ornithopter and it's self (juggernaut too currently but I don't think being a convoke creature overrules him being bad for this deck). I know it's tempting to dream the dream of having 3 ornithopters and an engineer out with a doom engine in hand....but you don't have the card draw to really benefit from that kind of a board state long term. So yeah, I doubt engineer will ever really be better for you. The 3 toughness blocker also doesn't matter since you're not on a defensive plan..

Just my 2 cents. :)

Thank you for the input DuckDuckG! I plan to run Ghostfire Blade in place of Juggernaut I just haven't gotten around to updating it yet. I see your point with Springleaf Drum . I think I will definitely try it out, and hopefully like it better than Chief Engineer . I'd been battling with the decision of the drum over the engineer, and you are the first person to give a very detailed analysis of the two against each other, bringing up good points, so I thank you for that. I will update this within the next couple days to make these changes. Thanks for the input!!!

Updated with Springleaf Drum DuckDuckG. Any other points you think are good to make? Are there any Khans cards you think would fit (besides Ghostfire Blade )?

Maybe one fewer Thassa? I'm inclined to think that 2 is enough. The legendary rule combined with the fact that you don't have much card draw means that more then one thassa is an especially bad draw for you. Coupled with the fact that is't strictly in the deck for it's abilities and not as a bomb creature. Two seems better. Add an extra ghostfire blade or springleaf drum in it's place.

Besides that I think the build you have is pretty optimal for what you're trying to do, unless something else gets spoiled. I'm toying with a similar brew but it's more aggro, so instead of the generator servant and doom engine plan I'm filling out my curve with Rabblemaster etc. But that's a completely different kind of deck.

Your deck looks great and I'm keen to hear how it plays in the real world!

I added the extra Thassa for now to playtest with it. I felt I wasn't drawing Thassa often enough before, so I wanted to see if the third was useful. If it turn out to be too much I think Ghostfire Blade will definitely get an extra copy. Thanks for the input guys, keep it up!!
