Well, this deck broke 100 upvotes while I was sleeping. Thank you to everyone for your interest in my deck!

Also sweeping the comments, they were getting a little long.

I will be building this once my college refund check comes in. Thank you for being awesome. +1

@canterlotguardian I'm glad you like it. I'll hopefully have a sideboard up soon, thinking of trying a transformative one that will run demons.

Surgical Extraction takes shadowborn out of your hand as well as Extirpate.

@JPODS0717 Surgical Extraction says "any number", so you can simply fail to find the ones in your hand, but still grab the ones from your library.

@TARDISMasterMC Glad you like the concept. The only issue with adding more cards is that you will have to cut some Shadowborn Apostles, that could bring the deck size after Surgical Extraction to over 20 cards, negating Shelldock Isle. Still, if you throw me a link after putting it up on tappedout, I'd be happy to look at it.

@leospartan2000 You are correct. I'll fix that right away.

Seems like you'd probably also benefit from Thoughtseize and Inquisition of Kozilek to backdoor discard an apostle on the first one, then hit them on the subsequent ones.

Cool idea, I love decks that are a little bit different or new. +1

Seems pretty good, it would be rough to not have a Surgical Extraction, but with the secondary option it makes up for it! +1

lemmingllama says... #18

@AcexSpades If I didn't run the transformative sideboard, then Inquisition of Kozilek would be one of the first things I would be adding. However, it would also decrease the consistency of the deck for the main deck. Thanks for the comment though!

@Khaosknight Glad you like the deck. Thanks for the +1.

@Hades_Shadow It is kinda rough, but we have Serum Powder and casting six Shadowborn Apostles to make up for it. So it can work nicely. Thanks for the +1

I'm new to MTG, so excuse my ignorance. How do you discard Shadowborn Apostle on turn one as your post suggested?

February 12, 2015 4 p.m.

Minelia5 says... #20

you don't play a land, which causes you to have 8 cards in hand, so you have to discard down to 7.

February 12, 2015 4:11 p.m.

lemmingllama says... #21

@Byronyk Minelia5's post is correct. You choose to go second or lose the die roll, thus allowing you to draw first. You draw and then end your turn, discarding down to 7. You can then use Surgical Extraction whenever necessary.

hannibal6 says... #22

Awesome idea, but am I missing something? What is the blue mana for? Why not swamps?

February 13, 2015 7:46 a.m.

lemmingllama says... #23

@hannibal6 Our way to cast Emrakul, the Aeons Torn is Shelldock Isle. It requires a blue to activate, so that is why we are using dual lands.

Remember when a card tells you to search for cards with a specific quality you don't have to find any or all of them, including in a hidden zone, so even with Extirpate you can fail to find apostles in your hand. Source:

701.15b If a player is searching a hidden zone for cards with a stated quality, such as a card with a certain card type or color, that player isnt required to find some or all of those cards even if theyre present in that zone.

kettchup Hmmm, I just checked the rules and it would appear that you are correct. Well then, that makes Extirpate much better than I originally thought. Thank you for mentioning that.
