4 player game Field setup you have Hypersonic Dragon and Tainted Sigil on the battlefield you use tainted sigil's ability and in response cast Repay in Kind along with dropping somebodies life total to zero would repay in kind drop everybody to zero or would the player lose before repay in kind went off and if so would tainted sigil go off before I lost the game or would I lose the game

State based actions would check and remove the player from the game with 0 life before Repay in Kind would resolve.

704.3. Whenever a player would get priority (see rule 116, "Timing and Priority"), the game checks for any of the listed conditions for state-based actions, then performs all applicable state-based actions simultaneously as a single event. If any state-based actions are performed as a result of a check, the check is repeated; otherwise all triggered abilities that are waiting to be put on the stack are put on the stack, then the check is repeated. Once no more state-based actions have been performed as the result of a check and no triggered abilities are waiting to be put on the stack, the appropriate player gets priority. This process also occurs during the cleanup step (see rule 514), except that if no state-based actions are performed as the result of the step's first check and no triggered abilities are waiting to be put on the stack, then no player gets priority and the step ends.

I also forgot to include this particularly important rule:

704.1. State-based actions are game actions that happen automatically whenever certain conditions are met. State-based actions don't use the stack.

Ok, for starters Repay in Kind is never going to drop someone's life total to 0 unless an effect like Lich, Platinum Angel or Abyssal Persecutor is out, because otherwise the person at 0 would have left the game before Repay in Kind could adjust anyone's life totals.

For examples sake lets say that one of your opponents controls a Platinum Angel and is a 0 life (or lower). It would go like this:

  1. You activate Tainted Sigil. It's ability goes on the stack, the amount of life it is going to gain you is at this point undetermined.

  2. You cast Repay in Kind. It goes on the stack.

  3. Assuming no one else wants to respond the topmost item of the stack resolves, which is in this case Repay in Kind.

  4. Repay in Kind sets everyones life to 0

  5. State-based actions are checked, killing everyone who doesn't control a Platinum Angel. Tainted Sigil's ability never gets to resolve.

The End.
