When do Spells Fizzle?

Asked by Delphen7 1 year ago

Say my opponent controls Grizzly Bears. I cast Bolt on it, and my opponent gives it hexproof.

If I let the hexproof effect resolve, but hold priority and activate Shadowspear's ability, will the Bolt deal damage?

Yes, the Lightning Bolt will deal its damage.

Spells fizzle when they begin to resolve and don't have any legal targets left. It doesn't matter if at some point the target was illegal as long as it was legal when the spell/ability was put on the stack and when the spell/ability resolves.
