What is the order in which permanents enter the battlefield?
Asked by seevers35 11 years ago
Scenario: I play AEtherling . Pass turn. My opponent plays an Evil Twin , copying my AEtherling . He then plays a second Evil Twin , copying my AEtherling . Pass turn. I play Supreme Verdict . We both respond to it by using the first ability on all the AEtherling s. When the cards return to the battlefield at the beginning of my end step, what order do the cards enter the battlefield in?

Pretty sure since twin is an as it enters the battlefield effect and as it enters there are no targets it will enter as just itself and state base will kill it as a 0/0.

AzrielBarakiel is correct. If there are no creatures put into play before the end of turn, the Evil Twin s will enter play first and find no suitable targets to clone. As a result they'll enter as they are 0/0's and die as a state based action. They will not retain their properties of being a copy of Aetherling through this process since they will be considered brand new instances.
After this the Aetherling will be the last shapeshifter standing.

Dallie has it mostly right. AEtherling sets up a delayed trigger that happens at the end of turn. Assuming you played Supreme Verdict on your turn, at the end of the turn, your trigger will go on the stack followed by your opponents triggers. His triggers will resolve first, returning Evil Twin to the battlefield with nothing to copy, and they will be put into the graveyard as a state based affect. Then your trigger would resolve and AEtherling would enter.
The only time creatures enter the battlefield simultaneously is when a single effect does it. Such as Sudden Disappearance or Faith's Reward .

of course, if you don't respond to your Supreme Verdict you can wait for him to respond and then respond to his response if you wish to change the order.

Unfortunately that is incorrect Warper. It doesn't matter when the Aetherlings get exiled. The triggers will all be set to go off at the beginning of the end step.
This means that regardless of how or when they were set the resolution is the same. Active players on the stack first then Non-active players.

Also elaborated in this thread on the forums, didn't feel the need to do it here as well.

I'm wondering why you didn't exile your AEtherling in response to him casting Evil Twin :)
My funny for the day

He might not have known he was going to copy his Aetherling. You choose which creature Evil Twin copies when it resolves, which is too late to bounce Aetherling in response to kill the Twin.

APNAP (Active Player, Non-Active Player)
First your AEtherling's delayed trigger goes on the stack, and then your opponent's.
So your opponent would chose which "AEtherling" would enter the battlefield first, as he stacks his triggers, and then yours would enter.
