Turn to Frog
Asked by nismonate81 9 years ago
Does it make a creature lose its counters and abilities (temporarily) from equipment or auras
Turn to Frog sets base power and toughness to 1/1, so anything else that adds or subtracts from it will apply to the 1/1 base.
Turn to Frog also removes any abilities that creature has, or has been granted by other things. If an aura, or a piece of equipment states that the creature gains x ability, or has x ability it will lose that ability. Other wise. the ability is not the creatures. Abilities from cards like Armadillo Cloak(edit -the creaure would lose trample) or Sword of Light and Shadow (edit - the creature would lose protection) are not abilities of the creature, so Turn to Frog would not remove them.

Turn to Frog sets the creature's base power and toughness to 1/1. Counters, bonuses from Auras and Equipment, and buffs from cards like Glorious Anthem are added to a creature's base power and toughness, so they will still apply.
If an Aura or Equipment gives the creature an ability (see, for example Battle Mastery), then the creature will lose that ability when it is turned into a frog. If the Aura or Equipment itself has the ability (such as that of Fruit of the First Tree), it will continue to function normally because it is not an ability of the creature.
