Thought-Knot Seer and Herald of Kozilek
Asked by Weird_Frisbee 8 years ago
I have a question regarding my U/R Eldrazi Midrange deck, specifically Herald of Kozilek and Thought-Knot Seer.
Herald reduces colorless spells by but recently lands, and creature-tap abilities, add the colorless symbol. And Seer has that symbol in his cost.
So, if I have a Herald out and a Seer in my hand, can I just pay the generic and avoid needing a Wastes or other land like Corrupted Crossroads to pay for the Seer? Because the
symbol is now a colorless mana symbol.
I'm just curious if this is actually correct or not because that could be big for my standard deck. If it's not, i'm not heartbroken.
Thanks for any insights into my question!
Epochalyptik's response is correct, but I'd like to elaborate on what I believe your confusion is.
Where you are confusing the difference is the errata to mana producing sources that generate colorless, such as Ancient Tomb, to say they produce instead of
. If Herald of Kozilek specified a specific type of mana, as Ragemonger does, it would use that symbol. Colorless is different in that it never had a symbol before, so no cards currently (to my knowledge) reduce colorless type costs of cards.
