The timing of Faithless Looting.

Asked by GoTeamJosh 11 years ago

Good morning everyone. I wanted to double check something about Faithless Looting . Essentially, what is the timing of the second part of the text that says you need to discard cards? Let's say you have Faithless Looting and a Lightning Bolt in your hand, you cast Faithless Looting , and draw another Lightning Bolt plus an Act of Treason . I'm assuming that you would be able to cast both Lightning Bolt s, since they are instants, and end up only discarding the Act of Treason ? Am I correct in assuming that you can cast any instants you have prior to the discard portion of the card? Thanks in advance.

Drawing the cards and discarding the cards is done during the resolution of Faithless Looting . When a spell is resolving no player can do anything until the spell has resolved.

No, you have to discard two cards immediately after drawing two cards, there is no opportunity to play spells and abilities, not until after the spell has completely resolved.

Players can only cast spells or activate abilities when they have priority. No one has priority during the resolution of effects on the stack. Another example is you can't cast Undying Evil on a Vexing Devil "in response" to your opponent choosing to make you sacrifice it.
