Storm copying result

Asked by M_Malcom 5 years ago

If I cast Doublecast (or a similar affect) followed by a Grapeshot would I get a Grapeshot with one storm counter followed another with two storm counters for a grand total of 5 damage?

No, since Storm only triggers on the cast and not copy effects. In your case you will end up with 3 total instances of Grapeshot - 1 from Doublecast copying it, one from the physical card and 1 last from the storm trigger. The only way to trigger multiple instances of storm is to return the physical card to your hand (cast Grapeshot with some storm count, Remand the original to your hand and recast it for storm count+2)

Madcookie is mostly correct, but you don't have to return the physical card to your hand in order to get another storm trigger. You simply have to cast the spell again. Giving it flashback with Snapcaster Mage or something that exiles it and then allows you to cast copies like Eye of the Storm will trigger storm. The important part is that it uses the specific word "cast" in the rules.

Ah, yeah. Well the important part about additional triggers is for the storm spell to be cast, not copied. But I can see how my example with the Remand wasn't accurate enough perhaps.
