Scion of the Ur-Dragon with firebreathing

Asked by Chickens_are_awesome 6 years ago

If I transform Scion of the Ur-Dragon into Moltensteel Dragon, activate its ability 6 times then transform it into Atarka, World Render will i win by commander damage?

Scion needs to be turned in to Atarka before it is declared as an attacker in order to get the double strike, but yes it would be a 12/4 flying trample doublestrike

Keep in mind once you transform Scion of the Ur-Dragon it loses the ability to transform, so you need to activate the ability twice, and use the firebreathing in between resolutions of the the abilities.

That is an important detail which I missed.

Impossible- When the Scion of the Ur-Dragon uses its ability it becomes a complete copy of the thing it is copying, in which to say it doesn't have its old ability which allows it to copy other dragons in your library.

One thing to note however is that you could use something like Shiv's Embrace to grant firebreathing to the Scion of the Ur-Dragon and then turn it into Atarka, World Render

DRACULA150704, if you read Neotrup's comment, you'd know that's not accurate. You can activate Scion twice, putting both on the stack before either resolves, let the first one resolve, activate firebreathing, then let the second one resolve.

So it keeps the buff from the firebreathing when I transform it?

yes

Yes, Power and Toughness changes happen in Layer 7, copied values happen in layer 1. You will keep the firebreathing buff after copying another card.
