Question about Aetherflux Reservoir..

I'm going to try to explain this the best I can.
Lets say you have (15) Life and you have a Abyssal Persecutor in play then use a Harmless Offering to give your Opponent the Abyssal Persecutor.
Would you be able to use the Aetherflux Reservoir to win or do you need 50 life to activate it?

I figured this was the case but I had to ask because a friend of mine was convinced that this was a legal play.

In the future rules questions should be asked in the Q&A section in the top bar. Your friend might have been confusing losing life and paying life. For example if you have something like Phyrexian Unlife and you cast Ad Nauseam you can lose past 0 life but as mentioned before you cannot pay life if you do not have the amount to pay.
