Persist on a creature with multiple +1/+1 counters?
Asked by VraskaTheCursed 4 years ago
Making a The Mimeoplasm EDH deck. If I copy a Woodfall Primus and get multiple +1/+1 counters on it, if I sac it with Carrion Feeder , do all the +1/+1 counters go away once it touches the graveyard? or can I sac it repeatedly to blow up a bunch of noncreature permanents. I believe it is the former, but would like to make sure before I removing this "synergy" from my deck.

Unless an ability allows the creature to keep their counters as they change zones ( Skullbriar, the Walking Grave is the only instance of this that I know of) all counters are removed from a card when it changes zones. There are combos with persist creatures, multiple counters is just not one of them.

sorry, just looked at a similar question that was already asked. Looks like Mimeoplasm comes back as itself, which makes sense. Guess that sucks lol, but woodfall primus is still good I guess haha
