Orbs of Warding can it be countered?

Like an instant that destroys it before it goes on the field.

Any spell can be countered while it's on the stack unless it specifically says it can't (Abrupt Decay, etc.).

I think there's another question here: "You" means "you, the player", not "you and all your stuff". Orbs of Warding only gives hexproof to the player controlling it. It's perfectly legal to hit the Orbs with a Naturalize or something similar while it's on the battlefield. It's not a legal play to hit a player with a Lightning Strike or something similar while they have the Orbs.

This is related, how about enchantments or creature abilities that target you to discard cards like Liliana's Caress are those abilities or enchantments unplayable or no longer in effect, can't think of a creature that has an ability to make you discard.

Hexproof stops any spell or ability from targeting something. If you have hexproof, your opponents can't target you with spells or abilities. It doesn't matter what effects those spells or abilities have; you can't be a target for any of them.

Note also that it is not possible to destroy something before it is put onto the battlefield. Only permanents can be destroyed, and cards are only permanents while they are on the battlefield. You could exile or counter Orbs of Warding, but neither of those actions is the same as destroying.

And, as Rhad said, Orbs of Warding doesn't have hexproof or give anything except the player hexproof. The card itself and all objects controlled by the player are still targetable.

If a spell or ability says "target player/opponent/etc." then it targets the player. If not, then it doesn't target. Orbs of Warding will only stop spells and abilities that target.

Rhadamanthus is correct.

Thoughtrender Lamia "each opponent".... Hexproof does nothing

Liliana's Caress "an opponent"... Hexproof does nothing

Sphinx's Tutelage "target opponent"... Hexproof stops that card dead in its tracks
