If Dark Depths is copied by Thespian's Stage creating a Marit Lage token, does that token have summoning sickness?

Summoning sickness question.

Yes.

A creature has summoning sickness if it's current controller has not controlled it continuously since the beginning of their most recent turn.

The land itself does not become a creature, it's a new token put onto the battlefield.

Epochalyptik has the right of it.

The distinction can be seen in the difference between Dark Depths and Westvale Abbey  Flip. The former sacrifices the land then places a token onto the field. The latter actually becomes the creature. The creature has haste, but it only makes a difference if you dropped the land and sacrificed the 5 creatures to transform it on that same turn.

If a player has a Dark Depths and an opponent uses Thespians stage on Dark Depths does. The opponent get a Marit Lage token or does they need to Control a Dark Depths with the Counters on it aswell?

That's a good question, Comedydragon84. I'd like to know the answer as well!

@Comedydragon84:

The opponent gets a token. Dark Depths doesn't need to reference any other cards in order for its ability to work. If you copy it, the copy is a separate instance of Dark Depths and will function on its own.

Is there a reason you thought it might work otherwise?

Also, it's best to start a new thread rather than to reply to an old question. Q&A threads can't be "bumped"; I only saw this follow-up because I got a notification for being subscribed to the thread from my post last year.
