If +1/+1 counters end up on a Mutavault do they go away at end of turn?

Just curious. Since there are lands like Llanowar Reborn , I'm guessing they stick around, but it's better to make sure of these things. I guess this question could also be asked about Theros gods like Heliod, God of the Sun ... I assume when he loses devotion to white and stops being a creature any +1/+1 counters would still stick, also.

You are right in both cases, the counters will remain. Noncreature permanents can have +1+1 counters on them, they just won't do anything.

Unless, of course, you have something to move counters ala Bioshift etc.

your right the +1/+1 counters will stay on, but they won't have any effect unless Mutavault is turned back into a creature. The same goes for the god's. The counters will stay, but will have no effect unless you reach devotion again and the god becomes a creature

No, any counters placed on lands if/when they become creatures will stick around if they lose creature status. That's why there's a limited combo with Anthousa, Setessan Hero
, Phalanx Leader
, and Dauntless Onslaught
. You arrange the triggers so that Anthousa's goes off first animating your lands and then Phalanx Leader
puts +1/+1 counters on your now land creatures.
The only things that "fall off" when a permanent loses the creature type are Auras and Equipments.

Interesting, I would have thought the opposite because the counters would nolonger be on a legal target. I didn't think non-creatures could keep them. Makes Mutavault that much better and another reason to justify the $20 price tag they carry.

@Leafy024: Counters never target anything. They're just markers.

Counters will not leave a permanent until it is leaves the battlefield. This goes for any type of counter.
