How does Mutate + Vehicles work?

Asked by JabberJ3T 2 years ago

Proof that mutate is super confusing but anyways

I am Pondering whether to make a Vehicle Mutate Jank deck. So my questions is, if you have crewed a vehicle and you mutate below that creature then is it forever a creature because the mutater gives it the creature type, or does it not do that and you still must pay the crew cost?

Wonder no more, friend.

The mutated pile will have the type line characteristics of the card that's on top.

So, if you mutate onto a vehicle placing the mutate creature card on top, it will permanently be made into a creature. If the mutate creature card is placed under the vehicle instead, the pile will still be a vehicle that you will need to animate each time you want it to do creature-specific things, like attacking and blocking.

It will actually still have its crew ability in either case, though it probably won't be particularly useful if you've placed the mutate creature card on top.
