how does life from the loam interact with zendikar spell lands (like juwari disruption)
Asked by TavaresChaos 4 years ago
can you use life from the loam to return spell lands back to your hand. shouldn't the game just check that you are returning a land, and not see that it is also a spell. allowing you to then play the spell land later?
And I just re-read the title itself, so my assumption statement was unnecessary. Still, Life from the Loam won't get those cards.

There's a difference between a land and a land card. An effect looking for a land card (like Life from the Loam ) can only get a card that's a land on its front face. An effect that lets you play lands (like Ancient Greenwarden ) will let you play MDFCs that are lands on the back (play the land side, of course).

I'm assuming you're asking about the Zendikar Rising double-faced cards, like Akoum Warrior Flip. When these cards are in any zone other than the battlefield, they only have the characteristics of their front face, in this case the creature. Life from the Loam won't be able to target it in the graveyard, where it's only a creature, not a land. The same thing applies to the cards whose front face is a sorcery, instant, or anything else.
