Unfortunately this does not work. The card's default face is Valki, God of Lies  Flip, which is what it is in all zones that aren't the battlefield, and its default if it is placed onto the battlefield without being cast. The reason that Emergent Ultimatum , Bring to Light , and formerly Cascade allowed you to cheat in Tibalt was that these cards allowed you to cast it without paying its mana cost. Flickering the card returns it to the front face and cheating it into play with an effect like Collected Company will only put the Valki side in.

The reason the Akoum Warrior  Flip example works is that the creature is the front, default face and the land is the back face.

So I found this on the worlds best source, reddit. "The only ones I found that allow you to flicker your own lands are Teferi's Time Twist and Oath of Teferi . So for the low price of 2 mana and a card, you can now turn Akoum Teeth into Akoum Warrior  Flip, a red 4/5 creature with trample and a +1/+1 counter from Teferi's Time Twist." So yes, Thassa, Deep-Dwelling could flicker Valki, God of Lies  Flip into the other side. You would also be able to choose an option with Charming Prince .

I'm assuming you're asking about the Zendikar Rising double-faced cards, like Akoum Warrior  Flip. When these cards are in any zone other than the battlefield, they only have the characteristics of their front face, in this case the creature. Life from the Loam won't be able to target it in the graveyard, where it's only a creature, not a land. The same thing applies to the cards whose front face is a sorcery, instant, or anything else.

I agree that it is not something you would build a deck around for Modern. If you did build a deck around maximizing it's value, there are going to be better card choices to fulfill it's role in the deck.

But i could see this in a casual baloth or other landfall deck. Or as late game to get back flip lands you played as land so you can use their spell value instead. Like playing an Akoum Warrior  Flip as land on an early turn, then mid-late game getting it back to hand to cast it as a Akoum Warrior  Flip.
