How Does Alhammarret's Archive React With Additional Draws at Draw Step?
Asked by Sousaphonist 9 years ago
Obviously, if you're drawing cards at any other point in the turn, as with Mind Unbound or Arcanis the Omnipotent, Alhammarret's Archive has you simply draw twice the number of cards. But what if you're drawing additional cards at the Draw Step itself, as with Howling Mine or Anvil of Bogardan? Since the Archive specifies the first card drawn in your draw step, would it still double the second?
Just a note that Alhammarret's Archive will change any drawn card into 2 drawn cards EXCEPT the first card drawn in any draw steps, if that simplifies it at all.

The first card drawn in your draw step is ALWAYS the one for the turn. Only after that do abilities "at the beggining of your/each draw step" (Abilities like the one of Howling Mine) are put on the stack only after this action has been done.
Archive will net you an additional card for each such effect.
