Exalted Trigger on Noble Hierarch after Lightning Bolting
Asked by msmahaj722 6 years ago
I attack with a Glistener Elf with a Noble Hierarch in play. the exalted trigger lm Glistener Elf resolves making it a 2/2. Can my opponent Lightning Bolt my Hierarch, after the Exalted trigger has already resolved, to make my Glistener Elf a 1/1 again?
In other words, would a creature lose an Exalted trigger after the permanent that gave it Exalted leaves the battlefield?

You know that thing where you’ve been playing magic for a long number of hours and you start questioning the most basic things because your brain is mush? That’s where the confusion comes from lol.

It's specifically because Noble Hierarch's ability is a triggered ability, not a static ability. The Hierarch's ability checks that the condition was met (a creature attacked alone), and applies its effect once and is done. Removing it doesn't undo that.
Anthem effects, on the other hand, such as Gaea's Anthem, are constantly checking and applying, and thus if you remove that permanent, the effect goes away.

no, it would lose the buff. removing a permanent that causes an effect, after that effect has resolved, does not remove the effect. heck, even if the permanent is removed before the effect resolves, it still resolves. not sure where the confusion is here. its pretty straightforward.
