Emrakul, the Aeons Torn

And no, I don't believe you can, because of Emrakul's built in replacement effect. Don't quote me on that one, though, I'm sure someone with a rule's reference will be along at some point.

Compare: Emrakul, the Aeons Torn and Blightsteel Colossus

Emrakul doesn't have a replacement effect, it has a triggered ability when it is placed in the graveyard. This trigger can be responded to as any other trigger.

However, deadmanwalking is still correct, just for the wrong reason. Assuming you have no trickery letting you break the rules, you're casting Day of Judgment on your turn. When Emrakul is destroyed, 2 things will happen: Mimic Vat will trigger, and Emrakul will trigger.

Triggers are placed on the stack in turn order, starting with all triggers controlled by the active player first. Then triggers owned by other players will be put on the stack in turn order. This means your Mimic Vat trigger will be first on the stack, followed by your opponent's Emrakul trigger. Emrakul's trigger will resolve first, shuffling their graveyard into their library. Then the Mimic Vat trigger will resolve, but since the object it is referring to is no longer there (Emrakul, opponent's graveyard) it will do nothing regardless of whether you choose to use it.

If you want to imprint your opponent's Emrakul on your Mimic Vat, you simply have to kill it on their turn. Then, since they would be the active player your Vat would resolve first, giving you the option of sniping their Emrakul before its reshuffle resolves. They'll still shuffle the rest of their graveyard into their library, but you'll steal the big eldrazi first.

Wut, how does day of judgement destory emrakul it has protection from white spells and a socrery(spelt wrong i know) is a spell isn't it?

Protection from (source) only works against 4 specific things, easily remembered by the acronym DEBT

  1. D - Damage. Can't be damaged by any source it is protected from.
  2. E - Enchant. Can't be enchanted or equipped by any source it is protected from.
  3. B - Block. Creatures can't be blocked by any source they are protected from.
  4. T - Target. Can't be targeted by any source it is protected from.

Since Day of Judgment doesn't target or deal damage, protection won't stop it. It may be a white spell, but since it's not singling Emrakul out or trying to deal damage (like Pyroclasm ) Emrakul's protection doesn't do anything to stop it.
