Does mana empty once your turn or someone elses turn is over?
Asked by GabenPvP 9 years ago
The reason being is i have a couple of cards that if mana doesnt empty at the end of this would be great such as omnath, locus of mana does mana just keep building and building because it does say green mana doesnt empty from your mana pool as steps and phases end im just curious is all.
Mana pools empty at the end of every phase. To give examples of when phases end:
- end of the draw step,
- end of main phase 1,
- end of combat,
- end of main phase 2,
- end of turn.
(unless cards are in play that say otherwise... like Omnath, Locus of Mana

PartyJ, note that mana doesn't only empty at the ends of phases, they also empty an the ends of steps, so the Upkeep step, each step in the combat phase, and the "beginning of the end step".

106.4. When an effect produces mana, that mana goes into a players mana pool. From there, it can be used to pay costs immediately, or it can stay in the players mana pool. Each player's mana pool empties at the end of each step and phase.

No worries. I'm a stickler for that because I played against an elf deck that tried to abuse Copperhorn Scout and Priest of Titania by saying his mana didn't empty at the end of the beginning of combat step where he tapped the priest for mana.

Mana in any player's mana pool will always empty at the transition between each step and phase on every player's turn.
There are cards that circumvent this rule: Omnath, Locus of Mana, Kruphix, God of Horizons, and Upwelling are some I know off the top of my head.
