Dash Hopes Copy?
Asked by Volpes 10 years ago
Lets say i have a creature with Dual Casting. Its my opponents turn and i have 3 mana left. He casts Terminate for my dual casting creature. He has 9 lifepoints left. I cast Dash Hopes to counter terminate. He chooses 5 dmg! Now: can i copy the spell after he choose to take 5 damage or do i have to copy it before he chooses to take 5 damage?
Terminate Dash Hopes Echo Mage
Please link the cards for clarity. Use [ [card name] ] (without spaces) to do so.
Next, the choice for Dash Hopes is happening during the resolution of the spell. At that point, nobody has priority and by the time you regain priority to copy the spell, it will have resolved and it will no longer be on the stack.
Tl;dr: Copy the spell before it resolves.

Note also that Dash Hopes doesn't deal damage. It causes loss of life.

You have to copy it before your opponent chooses to take 5 damage, because once Dash Hopes resolves, your creature enchanted with Dual Casting will have no legal target on the stack to copy.
The word 'spell' refers to those on the stack.
