Courser of Kruphix multiple lands?

Asked by SphinxOfChimes1080 11 years ago

My friend said he gains tons of life with his new card Courser of Kruphix by pulling through his land pockets in one turn. Is it possible to play more than one land with that card? skeptical me says no.

No, Courser of Kruphix does not affect the number of lands you can play a turn, compare it to a similar card that does like Oracle of Mul Daya which is explicit in that it allows you to play an extra land.

Here's the specific ruling on Courser of Kruphix of the matter just to reinforce it -"Playing a land with the second ability counts as your land play for the turn. If you play a land from your hand during your turn, you wont be able to play an additional land from the top of your library unless another effect allows you to."

I'm pretty sure not. with the way the card reads, you may only 'play' one land a turn. if it said 'put a land onto the battlefield' then yes. otherwise the rules around the word 'play' make it not possible to play more then one land with this ability.

While on the topic, will.. lets say... Xenagos, The Reveler or Burning-Tree Emissary trigger its lifegain?

@seanpai: Post a new question instead of replying to an old one.

Courser of Kruphix 's ability triggers whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control. Xenagos, God of Revels and Burning-Tree Emissary are not lands, and they have nothing to do with lands.

Lands and mana are different things. Lands are permanents; mana is a resource. Xenagos, God of Revels and Burning-Tree Emissary both have abilities that produce mana.
