Blade of Selves equipped to creature opponent controls
Asked by Colten_Lee 9 years ago
Hey guys, was thinking of some interactions with some of the Commander 2015 cards. And this question came into mind. If I somehow have the Blade of Selves equipped to an opponents creature what happens when they attack? Do I get tokens(attacking...? Wouldn't think so) because I control the artifact, or do they because the artifact would grant their creature the ability?? I'mAssuming they would but still gonna ask

Yeah I assumed that since it grants the creature the ability, the creatures controller would get them. Although it would be fun the other way around.

Now, if you want everyone to explode in a horrible, funny way, equip it to a Gray Merchant of Asphodel and laugh as everyone's life total washes away with each token popping out.

My friends brought all 5 new commander decks to play together...and the Blade of Selves was DEVASTATING, paricularly with Sun Titan, even more so w/ a Hamletback Goliath standing there. My first edit was adding a Archangel of Strife with this awesome new equipment in mind.

It seems pretty solid. I was told of also equipping it to a Hydra Omnivore for much damage and destruction.

Considering the official rulings for Myriad have yet to be released, and it is most speculation and educated guesses, here is my two cents:
The equipment Blade of Selves says "The creature has myriad". This would mean that the creature's controller would be the one to get the tokens, and not you, even if you somehow gave the equipment away while still controlling it. (perhaps with Magnetic Theft?). As there are no official rulings to refer to, take this with a grain of salt.
Also, it would be an extremely awkward and confusing situation to be having two different players (Not on the same team) both having attacking creatures simultaneously. With that also in mind, it would be logical that the creature's controller would be the one to get the tokens.
