Are there any black enchantments which can reduce ability costs?

Asked by ObscurumAeterna 14 years ago

I recently added proliferation ability to my mono-black infect deck in the form of Contagion Clasp . Four of them, in fact. That's all well and good, but I find that when I'm low on creatures and my opponent is gaining control of the field, casting more creatures and tapping the Clasp(s) for proliferation in the same turn is simply too expensive; but if I'm to keep my opponent from clawing my life away, I don't have much of a choice.

Are there any cards I can add which will reduce this mana cost? And if not, are there any cheaper alternatives to the Clasps?

A suggestion if you're using infect for the poison part would be Decimator Web . It does cost more to cast then Contagion Clasp but the lose of life and library mill will put an additional hurt on your opponent.

Avatar of Woe ends up costing only two Black if there are 10+ creatures in all graveyards, so later on, its a bigger creature for cheap to help hold you over.

Stir the Grave would be a way to bring back what ever size creature you need (or could afford).

Most other mono-black cards i found that reduced creatures costs required specific creatures (such as zombies, mercenaries or goblins).

Maybe look into artifacts.

Spells like Grim Affliction might be good, but in standard you will not find the exact answer you are looking for.

You should note that Grim Affliction puts the -1/-1 counter on the targeted creature, then you proliferate so you get 2 -1/-1 counters on that creature if you wanted to add a second counter.

perhaps Heartstone or Training Grounds can help you?

Viral Drake has an activated proliferate that doesnt require tapping so if you reduce that cost you could be in business.
