Apostle's Blessing / Ensnaring Bridge
Asked by EaterOfTacos 8 years ago
I am VERY new to the MTG scene 1 month. I am playing a low budget Slippery Bogle deck. (To start out with). My question is as follows. I played against a bridge deck ( as my son called it). The guy I played against played ensnaring bridge. I played Apostle's Blessing. From whAt I read of that cards abilities it should bypass ensnaring bridge. Am I wrong? It gives protection from ALL Artifacts. And ensnaring bridge targets ALL creatures. Please help.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Magic, and good on you for dipping straight into Modern!
With protection, there is a handy acronym to remember what it does: DEBT.
D - protection prevents Damage from the specified source
E - protection prevents Enchanting or Equipping from the specified source
B - protection prevents the specified source from Blocking
T - protection prevents the specified source from targeting
Hope that helps in the future!

Please link all relevant cards:
Ensnaring Bridge
Apostle's Blessing
Bridge does not target; it is a static effect that affects all creatures. Not that the card doesn't say, "each target creature", just "creatures can't attack...". To recap, protection makes it so that the permanent can't be targeted, damaged, enchanted or blocked by the thing of the protected characteristic. Things like Doom Blade can't hit White Knight, but Damnation can.
So tl:dr, no, Apostle's Blessing does not protect your Bogle from Ensnaring Bridge.
But great question, and have a great time learning magic!
