Ancestral statue trigger

Set the stage: Animar is on the board with 4 +1/+1 counters along with Fervor and Cryptolith Rite. If I cast Acestral Statue and target itself may I tap to add mana before trigger resolves?

Ancestral Statue's ability does not target, but yes you can tap it for mana before bouncing itself.
