Blood Baron vs. Spear of heliod

If I used Spear of Heliod s activated ability on Blood Baron of Vizkopa after it dealt damage, would it go through since baron has protection?
Just something I've heard and been thinking about, D,E.B.T. should be D.A.B.T. which the A is 'Attached'. Attached being more general and covers both equip and enchant.

gufymike, I don't think there is any equipment that is colored.

thataddkid, Progenitus makes it relevant, and there is pro artifiacts on a few creatures. Colors aren't the only thing that get 'pro from'. Hell even players can be the pro choice... True-Name Nemesis .

You wouldn't be able to target Blood Baron of Vizkopa with Spear of Heliod at all because of the protection from white and Spear is white and says target creature.
Protection means
D - can't be damaged by
E - can't be enchanted/equipped by
B - can't be blocked by
T - can't be targeted by
