Venser in Modern?

Has anyone tried playing him in Modern at all?

That's what I thought. After I saw Thragtusk spoiled for the first time, I immediately thought of Venser, the Sojourner and was like "hmmm". And then RtR was released and Venser went bye bye.
I was trying to "revive" him using Farseek as well because both are cards I miss terribly lol

I played a competitive UW Venser control with Stonehorn Dignitary back in Scars/Innistrad standard. It was effective then because of the low amount of interactive cards. It would be much harder to play Venser in Modern which is a format full of fast, proactive strategies and cheap, efficient interaction. Venser is really just too slow.

Same here Jimhawk. The look on my opponent's face when Stonehorn Dignitary keeps blinking is priceless lol

I have seen a Modern U/W flicker deck utilizing him (it came 2nd in a MTGO Daily). You can look at the list in this article, under W/U Control.

In a casual FNM setting, he can be fine. Use him as an engine in a midrange deck to flicker Kitchen Finks , Eternal Witness , etc.
In a more competitive setting, Venser doesn't make the cut. For 5 mana, he is an underwhelming presence who doesn't win the game easily.
