Holdout Settlement - Good Enough for Modern?

If any viewer of this post hasn't seen the spoiler for Holdout Settlement, it goes something like this:

Holdout Settlement

Land

Tap: Add <> to your mana pool. (<> represents colorless mana.)

Tap, Tap an untapped creature you control: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool.

My question is, could this common actually be something of worth in Modern Affinity, replacing Springleaf Drum? The land has Drum's ability, plus it can produce mana regardless of board state, and it dodges artifact removal most decks board in Game 2 (Shattering Spree, Hurkyl's Recall, etc.). Thoughts?

Doubtful. While it is nice it produces mana on its own, it doesn't power Cranial Plating or Arcbound Ravager or Metalcraft like Springleaf Drum does. Arguably most important, it raises Affinity's very low land count, making it more likely to draw lands instead of important pieces.

Seems playable overall, but it doesn't really replace Drum, because you can't play it next to another land on the same turn, and it doesn't add to your artifact count for Plating.

The big thing that Springleaf Drum has going for it that this land doesn't is that it ups the artifact count for your affinity spells and for Cranial Plating.

I agree with Wizard_of_the_Broke that overall the card can see play, but not in affinity for the reason stated above. Now i think it can be used to ramp in some tier 2 decks. Something along the lines of tokens (what do you think xzzane?), goblins (maybe), or anything that wants to spit out it's hand quickly.

Edit - just noticed it was a one shot effect. So probably not <_<

Tokens would never play this.

I could see it being useful in some Rogue stuff like a Myr deck, budget Affinity, or some combo deck that runs Thopters, but that's about it.

Pauper affinity. Your only mana acceleration is springleaf drum, so copies 5-8 would be nice

wait never mind. Misread the card.

Unfortunately, this card is approximately 100% worse than Springleaf Drum in Affinity. The biggest problem, really, is that it doesn't actually accelerate your mana, meaning that the broken stuff like T2 equip Cranial Plating it out of the question.

Short answer: No.

Longer answer: It doesn't ramp by coming down on the same turn as another land, so it doesn't accelerate your mana production. Therefore, not good enough for Modern.

Thanks for the replies all! I don't personally play Affinity (might have been obvious with the question), but I have a friend who does; thought I would ask on his behalf.
