Duress or Despise?

Not sure which to use, Duress or Despise in my modern deck. It seems like planeswalkers don't see a whole lot of play in modern, which is why im doubting Despise . Just wondering what you guys think is the best 1 drop discard card behind Thoughtseize and Inquisition of Kozilek .

Definitely Duress .

I agree, I would run Duress . It removes more threats that Despise would. I'd rather see my opponent forced to discard a counterspell, or a win con compared to a creature.

True, and i can grab artifacts, which are definitely a huge threat in modern.

Duress , more often than not, will be a better bet. Unless you know your meta is running a lot of decks like Melira Pod or other creature heavy archetypes, in which case Despise can be just as deadly. As a mainboard pick, it's the smarter play to go with Duress.

I'd probably go with Duress just because black's best defense against noncreature spells is plucking them from an opponent before they can be played. Creatures are easy to kill, and you can deal with planeswalkers by just swinging into them.

Duress is infinitely better than Despise in modern. Especially if played with Inquisition of Kozilek .

Duress , creatures aren't always a problem for black as I'm sure you'd be running some form of removal alongside it, and it can also pick out planeswalkers, but I doubt you'd see much.

Even in Pod decks, the most important card to hit isn't a creature, it's Birthing Pod . The number of decks where you really want Despise is minimal. The card doesn't really even enter the conversation of black targeted removal...it's all Thoughtseize , Inquisition of Kozilek , and Duress .
