I want to make a zombie apocalypse type gamemode, but im not sure where to start.
The idea is that each player starts with 1-2 human creatures on the field and 3-4 Plains. The goal is to last as long as you can against the zombie horde.
When I say horde I don't mean the Horde type of gamemode, but the same sort of idea.
Players would "scavenge" (reveal the top card of a deck and place it in their hand/battlefield?)
The Scavenge deck has stuff like equipment, lifegain?, other "survivors (another creature), Plains, and maybe have zombies interspersed throughout the Scavenge Pile. (I'm still not sure if I should make the horde deck seperate or in the Scavenge Pile
I'm still not sure how to go about this idea, it is still a very rough draft.
I like this idea. Would it be a co-op game or more of a team game, where one player is the zombie horde and the rest are planeswalkers/legendary creatures/survivors that are trying to surivive?
I could see this going a lot of ways. Character customizations with using say, legendary creatures, that get different stats based on P/T and abilities, different zombie cards like you have already mentioned, perhaps even planeswalkers?

Thank you both for the feedback! The board game looks really fun to play. I hadn't even considered legendary creatures or planeswalkers, but that is a good thought.
Its probably going to be more of a Co-op type of game, were you can screw over your fellow survivors by attacking them. (and maybe steal some of their equipment?)
I had considered having the zombie horde player controlled, but I think it might be able to be either player controlled or randomized.
I think if it legendary creatures were allowed then they would be in the players hand/have a certain CMC limit and be on the field.
How in the world would planeswalkers work? Maybe be in the scavenge deck?

Have you ever played the ZOMBIES!!! board game?
It's a strategy game, similar to Risk or Clue, where you and other survivors make your way through town killing zombies and try to make it to the heli pad. You start at the town square, then whenever a player takes a turn they flip over a piece of the board (a road or intersection, with stores and such) then adds it to the board. Basically you build the town as you go.
Anywho you put zombies on each piece of the board as well, so as you build the town there are tons of zombs. You also have a deck of cards that can either screw over opponents, help you out, or add more zombies to the table. You only have a 3 card hand and can only play 1 card per round; either on your turn or an opponent's turn. At the beginning of your turn you draw back up to three cards, and at the end can choose to discard 1 card. So the least you'll ever have is 1 and the most is 3
For mtg, I'd be interested in seeing an overlap in the two games. Every time a player takes a turn, put a 2/2 zombie into play, or multiple, depending on how late in the game you are. As you flip cards in the deck, if you pull a zombie card like Army of the Damned or From Under the Floorboards you must play them just to make it interesting. Even lords like Undead Warchief could really add to the flavor of the game
At the end of each turn in ZOMBIES!!! you roll a 6 sided die and move that many zombies exactly 1 space. Either away from your character or towards opponents to make their life harder. So in your mtg version you could do the same. At the end of your turn you can have untapped zombies attack your opponents.
Enough from me for now. Look into the game and see what it's about
Cheers!
