What would be better for a mana ramp deck? Summoning Trap or Genesis Wave

Well let's look at the cards based on cost. For 6 summoning trap gets you one creature. For 6 Genesis Wave could get you no creatures, but could also get you 3 permanents. Also Genesis wave can be pumped and potentially net you alot more, but at the same time Summoning Trap could be free.

I'd say they're stacked pretty evenly against one another, but for a Ramp deck, Genesis Wave gets you creatures, Land, enchantments, everything permanent, If you tap out to Gen Wave, you're probably going to have some land free afterwards so long as it isn't countered.

I like Genesis Wave in a Ramp over Summoning Trap.

I think it depends on what type of deck your playing. For Eldrazi green, summoning trap is good because it gets you one of the eldrazi, more lotus cobras or other mana producers are not as relevant. However in elves, since you have good global pumpers like archdruid and the overrun elf having the critical mass of creatures is important. Genesis wave gets you that critical mass more easily. Also Genesis wave gets you the eldrazi monument that protects your guys.

i just built my first green deck (well its green/black deck) and i have genesis wave in it.

saved my ass soooooooo many times.

i'd cast 5 mana and play out like two Vampire Nighthawk a Consuming Vapors , Greenweaver Druid and a Bloodthrone Vampire

Err ... you can't get consuming vapors off of Genesis Wave because it's not a permanent.
