Pricing of Leyline of Anticipation

So we all know that the Leyline of Anticipation is great. Has the potential to let you cast nonland cards as if they had flash from the beginning of the game. But yet, it's a $1 card. Meanwhile you have the Leyline of Sanctity up at $12, and it gives you hexproof. Why is the Leyline of Anticipation so low in price?

Sanctity stops a ton of turn one target player spells, I can think of gitaxian probe, duress, thought scour, appetite for brains, etc.

Leyline of Sanctity is played in sanctioned formats; Leyline of Anticipation is not. The hexproof from the former is more valuable than the flash from the latter (as far as 60-card is concerned).

Leyline of Sanctity is part of only a couple cards that can stop a turn-0 combo-out, and the only one that can be used in a deck of any color.

Leyline of Anticipation , I've always thought, could be a cool way to counteract control decks, but Flash doesn't really matter in Legacy, where your opponent can just counter everything every time.

conceptually a nice card, but in execution it never seems to pan out.

i see it in my binder every so often and think longingly about it, before i remember the failed attempts at using it.

Basically, Leyline of Anticipation can give you the opportunity for some cool tricks, but Leyline of Sanctity will make certain aggro and combo decks fall off a cliff and die. That's what makes Sanctity much more important for competitive play as a sideboard card.

I think Leyline of the Void has the most power out of all of them.

Rest in Peace does the same thing for less mana and is less specific.

Leyline of the Void is free - What are you talking about?

Rest in Peace won't save you against Legacy Dredge.

You have to have it in your opening hand though, that's the point I'm getting at. And I don't play Legacy, so it's no surprise I didn't think of Legacy Dredge.

Time for my input on this matter.

I've used Anticipation in my mill decks, as there are a ton of sorceries that I use. Now by off chance I get it out for free, I destroy things. I've used it successfully on a number of occasions and in some situations, even saved me from losing.

Sanctity is the better choice IF you go against targets. Global effects, however short, won't save you. It beats burn, mill, and some bits of control (discard and sacrifice effects), but overall it can also be trash.

Anticipation is good in control because having mana open almost all the time is AMAZING and powerful.

Void is great, it shuts down many strategies that rely on graveyard, while not affecting your own. Solar Flare, Eldrazi, Reanimator, Graveyard strategies ALL cringe at the sight of this card.

You have to have it in your opening hand, but that's not too big of an issue when it's a 4-of in your sideboard. You either mulligan until you see it or lose to good hands in both Modern and Legacy.

Though, in Modern, our friend Golgari Grave-Troll is banned.
