Looking at the art of Steam Augury
I never noticed the gorgon and dragon within the steam. I wondered if Keranos's appearance was somehow linked. Then looking at the art and flavor text of Lightning Strike
and realized that we already have art depicting him. The flavor text of Steam Augury talks of punishment and prophecy. Sounds like a combination of Purphoros, God of the Forge
and Thassa, God of the Sea
. Seems like his ability could be very similar to Magma Jet
and maybe triggered by casting instants or soceries.
Anyone have any thoughts on Keranos or my prediction? Isn't Zeus kind of the lightning god for Greek mythology or is there another god that is similar to Keranos?
In Greek mythology Zeus (Jupiter in Rome) was attributed with being the god of the Sky...lightning, specifically, being his weapon. Assuming that RU will be his color identity, I have to admit I think you have a good guess of his producing a Magma Jet -like effect. However, judging from his depiction on a burn spell and his ability to generate card advantage on Steam Augury , I would place my money on him being the Jace, Architect of Thought /Ral Zarek of the Theros block. Blue is good as drawing, and Red burns things. Perhaps he will be able to draw cards equaling U devotion or deal damage equal to R devotion? Maybe that's overpowered....hmmm.
I am stoked to see how these lesser gods turn out, but I am most pumped for the probable G/W Ajani.

Tachyon - Correlation does not imply Causation. Tezzeret doesn't fit in with Theros. I seriously doubt he'll show up.

No tezzeret will come because elspeth recently came back from phyrexia and tezzeret could of followed her to theros. they will introduce a memnite 2.0.

To be honest, Heliod, God of the Sun is really only Zeus like in that he is "king of the gods." He's much more like Helios, who was the actual God of the Sun in Greek mythology. So, we've not yet seen a God of Lightning yet. I'm also seeing Iroas (seemingly the RW god) as being like Ares in many ways.
