Morning folksI will start with an introduction of myself, been on here around 6 months, I have traded with many of you guys and I love this site. i am on here alot at work and my magic passion is EDH i started over a year ago with being green AND black i mean wtf you gits!! I want mono black deathtouching werewolves!! but i think my mates will let me off for that along with thing is a bit upsetting but I reckon he will drop when a new set appears or he outlives his usefulness so i may wait to buy him. My next thought is that no more flip cards are printed in avacyn restored so this got me thinking. Most of my EDH decks will find love in the future, angels demons dragons, elementals mono white equipment mono blue control etc etc but this wolf business could end up unloved. this would make me sad panda as currently it looks to cost $200 without land! so this is quite a lot of money to spend on a fun deck that may not get any love in the future.
My question to you the users of tapped out is, Do you think they will still print some wolves and possibly non flipping werewolves in avacyn restored or even in future sets? i think that werewolves were not as utilized as they should/could have been so WoTC have missed a trick here. i wanted a legendary flipping werewolf too that would of been cool. another kick in the nads is that the new cool werewolves and wolves are red/green whereas in the past (Ravnica) they were all green/white. WHY WoTC WWHHHYYYYYY!?! so to end my slightly ranty mumbling post i ask you again, what does the future hold for my friends the werewolves and wolves?
yea you just highlighted all my woes on them lol, this is what i fear may happen, I love wolves and werewolves and to see them fizzle out without ever becoming what they could have been will annoy me, there is enough there to make a deck but without future stuff making it nicer i don't see the point in making it really. suppose I will have to look forward to whatever demons appear once avacyn is released! i agree with you on the flavour and stuff and i know there will no more transform. would of been nice to see a werewolf that was always a werewolf signifying that he was like the alpha dude i dunno i just wanted a little more! but thats life wanting what we can't have! i also want a dodge viper so meh i will make do with what i have lol

Actually I do believe we WILL see a legendary werewolf in AVR in the form of Skahaara. It's time to be introduced to the savage Leeraug clan, a tribe of werewolves known to have completely shed their human form and live only as werewolves. Skahaara is their alpha.

That would be sick if Avacyn is going to be a planeswalker.

Ulrich is a possibility also, as he has gained control over his transformation. It could be represented via an ability instead of flipping. Something like..
Ulrich, Krallenhorde Alpha | 3RG
Legendary Creature - Human
RG: Target Wolf or Werewolf creature you control gains intimidate until end of turn.
2RG: Ulrich becomes a 7/7 Werewolf creature with first strike, trample, and intimidate until end of turn.
2/2

lol Avacyn will be a legendary creature with a human anthem and says when it enters destroy all non humans lol

Na, that's crazy talk. She'll be a new creature type 'Street Walker.' She'll be a one drop indestructable 1/1 that will just troll the whole game.

@ IAmKingTony if this is true and happens I will be soooooo happy! :-) sounds really cool!!

A thing that just sort of clicked in my head. I'm thinking we get some beefy creatures in AVR. I'm talking Eldrazi-sized. The pieces for this are definitely falling into place.
1) The lead designer for AVR last led the design for Rise Of The Eldrazi...
2) The precedent for giant demons has already been set with Withengar Unbound . Griselbrand is the major demon on this plane, so he will be stronger than a 13/13 flying, trample, intimidate. Contemplate the last time that existed. Yeah, they were called Eldrazi. Let's not forget about Shilgengar, another of the major demons...
Avacyn is the counter balance to an entire world of evil. She's bound to pretty godly too.

Emrakul, the Aeons Torn is hard to beat...he's a beast! I doubt they'll make anything like him again, but I can see a 10/10 or 11/11 Indestructable making the cut, much like Blightsteel Colossus and his cousin, Darksteel Colossus .
I'm a fan of the werewolves too, and aside from Mayor and Huntmaster, there aren't a whole lot out there that really rock. As a support network, they do great, but as a single theme, Zombies, Spirits, heck, even Humans have em' beat.

I have started building this EDH deck now lol it just looks fun anything in AVR will be a bonus. agreed on the demons being massive I look forward to adding them (and avacyn if shes an angel creature!!) to my Kaalia of the Vast deck :-)

Eldrazi sized just won't happen again any time soon. The point of that whole set was to create a slow limited environment, for the purpose of getting out the biggest baddest creatures magic is ever likely to see. It's not a level of power they'll be going back to soon, and the set is already far too aggressive and fast-paced for us to see them brought in because the designers will know that they'll never see use in serious decks.

AVR is a self-contained limited environment, it will be drafted AVR-AVR-AVR and sealed will be 6 AVR packs. The speed behind ISD and DKA has no effect on AVR limited.

The werewolves are now called wolfir in avacyn set because they teamed up with the humans to fight all the demons and devils, you can find this out by reading the flavor text on some of the spoiler cards

Miracle is a new mechanic that seems cool. Soulbound seems decent. I'm sad about there not being any more flip cards.

Flavor wise the purpose of the werewolves were not supposed to be as prevalent as the vampires. The vampires have been around organized into covens and mansions with great organizational skills. However we also must remember that werewolves generally transform and lose all recollection of who they are and what they did. A werewolf was a human being that did something and specialized in something and when transformed became a more experienced and powerful version of that form card wise.
Is a legendary werewolf likely at this point? No. The reason mechanics wise we never saw a legendary flipper was because of the legendary rule. If you had a werewolf flipped version of that legend and your opponent had the unflipped on the field than they would be allowed to exist at the same time do to the cards actually being 2 completely different cards, if that makes sense
However you may see like a reprint of Master of the Wild Hunt
or Howl of the Night Pack
or similar cards about wolves but not necessarily flipping werewolves. It is also likely we just see a human version like Master that gives werewolves a boost but it doesn't seem too relevant.
