Sobi just bought a karn liberated for $40 how much do you think he'll drop in price?

Refer to every other thread on this similar topic. There are about twenty of them.

Let me 'splain.

No, that would take too long. Let me sum up.

Based on the previous Modern Masters set, he won't drop at all because he's a mythic.

For what I think, he'll drop maybe a few weeks after release, but the price will go right back to where it was, if not higher. The same will probably go for Tarmogoyf, Emrakul, the Aeons Torn, and any other high value card these days that gets reprinted, like Liliana of the Veil, Noble Hierarch, etc.

The mistake that is being made by wizards is saying this is a limited print, which means once its all released, they won't make anymore prints of this set, so they won't keep the price in check, thus making it pointless to hope for price drops.

But also take into consideration the fact that Karn is not a four of in every deck that he fits in to (ie, he is not Goyf / Confidant). There's only one and a half decks that want Karn, and those are RG Tron and Experimental Ramp decks, both of which are losing popularity as time goes on. So for those that are assuming that all MM Mythics follow the trend of Goyf, well, no. Take a look at Vedalken Shackles, a card that has similar playability to Karn. As soon as modern masters 1 came out, there was an 8 dollar drop in it's average price of $20, which smoothed out to about $13.50 up to now, even with the inclusion in a deck that did Very well in a PT (Blue Moon). I would expect karn to follow a similar path to this strictly because of it's playability. For those that are just saying that it is a mythic therefore it gets more expensive, I'll just put out there that you might not actually understand how MTG Finance works and you should stop giving advice without doing research (Not targeting any specific person, but moreso a group of people who do this). For the OP: If you need him now, it's fine to have him now, but I can see him dropping a small percentage once MM2 hits. There's nothing wrong with getting a few extra months out of it though.

Like GoldGhost012 said, Karn will not rise because he is being printed as a Mythic.
