Master of the Offensive

Creature - Human Soldier

First Strike

Whenever you attack with two or more creatures with power 2 or less, draw a card.

2/2

Defense Adept

Creature - Human Soldier

Vigilance

Whenever you block with two or more creatures with toughness 3 or greater, draw a card.

1/3

In theory, the second half can draw you three cards per rotation, but seeing as it's only one card each turn I think it'd still fit with WotC's current ethos for White.

I like it! Getting draws off defense can just further push vigilance, which is one of my favorite abilities in edh. You always end up getting so much extra damage going around when there is no downside for your attacks. This looks like a really fun card. And yep, it definitely goes with what they are doing with white these days.

Niko9 glad you like it! That's a good point about vigilance, I wonder if the Adept should have it... and then the Master could have first strike to keep the parallelism?

Question: Total power and total toughness, or minimum?

Suppose I attack with a couple of 1/1s, does that trigger Master of Offense, or do they need to be 2/1s at minimum?

I noticed the question. Going on 20 hours and five cups of coffee.

Ignore me for I am the big dumb.

But it's a valid point: you may need to specify if it is "with total ~" or if it is "at least".

Omniscience_is_life First strike and vig would be an amazing flavor win and I don't feel like it would be overpowered at all. Nice one!

Also, and this is way off topic (sorry!) but thinking about card advantage in white, would it be crazy to create cards for white that would make it the color that's able to interact with exile to gain value? It might be way OP to reanimate things from exile with all of the exile effects in magic history, but I don't know. I was just thinking that it might be a different way for white to gain card advantage and I think flavor-wise it would feel very white to pull things back from exile.

Heh, just random thoughts :)

The current "pull from exile" cards are Pull from Eternity and Riftsweeper, and I honestly think that's more than enough. If a card wanted to interact with exile, I think counting exiled cards or looking for a certain characteristic would be better. "If an opponent owns an exiled creature, ~ gets +1/+2" or something.

The exile zone is (supposed to be) the Does Not Exist area, so it's probably got to have some specific flavor, like a reality guard or something. It's kind of hard to interact with something that's not there. Maybe a memorial? But that seems more graveyard-y.

TypicalTimmy going off Welcoming Vampire's text, I think it's fine as is. But thanks for taking the time to come over and wonder!

Niko9, legendofa I do frequently wonder about those two cards and whether or not WotC will make more, not sure what my stance on that is. Maybe a card with "You may cast creature spells with power 2 or less from exile as long as they were put there from the battlefield this turn, and you controlled them"?

legendofa That's fair :) I was mostly just thinking about other white card advantage that could be fun. The original created card just really got the gears upstairs turning and that must be a good sign of an awesome creation by Omniscience_is_life
